DANIEL KNORR AT ODUNPAZARI MODERN MUSEUM!

Daniel Knorr’s site-specific installation “Calligraphic Wig” will be on view at Odunpazarı Modern Museum in Eskişehir from October 25, 2025, to March 21, 2026. A product of the artist’s time spent in plastic recycling factories in Hong Kong, Calligraphic Wig transforms the spontaneous forms that emerge when machines malfunction into subjects of art.

By turning the shapes born from the production and transformation processes of plastic into an artistic language, Calligraphic Wig invites viewers to confront the material’s potential. These accidental plastic formations sometimes resemble the letters of an unknown alphabet, sometimes deep-sea creatures, and at other times organic structures from other planets.

First exhibited at Chungking Mansions, the work draws inspiration from Hong Kong’s cultural diversity and urban aesthetics. Knorr coats some pieces in automobile paint colors ranging from the 1970s to the present, reestablishing the connection between industrial production and aesthetics, while leaving others in their raw state to highlight the material’s primal energy and accidental transformation.

More than a visual experience, Calligraphic Wig is also a call for environmental awareness and an exploration of a new aesthetic language born from discarded materials.
