OVER 30,000 VISITORS EXPERIENCED THE “MODULES FOR THE UNKNOWN STUDENT MONUMENT”!

Since its opening on September 16, “Modules for the UNKNOWN Student Monument” has drawn significant attention, welcoming more than 30,000 visitors in six weeks.

PİLEVNELİ is presenting Erdoğan Zümrütoğlu’s solo exhibition “Modules for the UNKNOWN Student Monument” at Odakule Surp Yerrortutyun Armenian Catholic Church until November 15, 2025. The exhibition stands as a visual response and homage to Ece Ayhan’s 1970 poem “Meçhul Öğrenci Anıtı” (Unknown Student Monument).

Zümrütoğlu proposes an alternative model to the classical idea of the monument. It is destructive and constructive at once, material yet elusive. The visual field becomes a site of both loss and presence, a space for mourning and for reimagining. The works in the exhibition resist being confined to a single recognizable form; instead, they transform, mix, and fracture styles to construct a distinct visual narrative. Here, the visual field becomes a space for both loss and existence.

If you haven’t visited yet, the exhibition can be seen Tuesday through Sunday, from 11:00 to 19:00, at Surp Yerrortutyun Armenian Catholic Church (İstiklal Street, Perukar Çıkmazı, next to Odakule, No:14, Beyoğlu / Istanbul). (Closed on Mondays.)
