Michael Sailstorfer at Die Tankstelle, presented as part of Gallery Weekend Berlin

Michael Sailstorfer at Die Tankstelle, presented as part of Gallery Weekend Berlin. Michael Sailstorfer unveils his new work “Shake Hands” at Die Tankstelle, a new art space jointly initiated by Galerie Judin and Pace Gallery. The sculpture features a heavy bronze rope twisted into an almost impossible knot, transforming raw industrial material into a surprisingly fluid, soft form.

Known for turning everyday materials into emotionally charged and often humorous sculptural expressions, Sailstorfer’s practice explores the fragile balance of contemporary society. His work creates tension between function and poetry, between material weight and conceptual lightness. “Shake Hands” stands as a striking example of how he reimagines familiar objects with layered new meanings.
