PİLEVNELİ is pleased to announce the solo exhibition by Defne Tesal between October 27 and December 5, 2021. The exhibition titled “Hesitation” comprised of drawings, embroidery, video, and site-specific installations will be exhibited on the second and third floor of the gallery.
Defne Tesal's production is based on repetitive movements. Her works consist of repetitive gestures of both herself and the materials she uses. Against the constantly forward moving pace of our time, Tesal bases her work on circular, rhythmic, fluid and static movements, and opens them up to the experience of the audience.
The artist approaches hesitation as a positive moment of pause, and temporarily immerses the viewer in this moment. The works focus on the sensory and emotional movements within the moments of hesitation. The yarns, needles, chickpeas, lines, and the tree constantly repeat actions but do not lead anywhere thus, they invite the viewer to remain in this dynamic uncertainty.
Defne Tesal's solo exhibition titled "Hesitation" can be visited at PILEVNELI Tuesday through Saturday between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm.
